Euthanasia

We believe in optimising our patients’ quality of life, but we do not advocate extending life at all costs.  Sadly there may come a time when you are faced with the decision to have your animal put to sleep. We understand how difficult this decision can be and how distressing it is to lose a loved companion.  We will at all times discuss the options and prognosis with you to reach a decision together in the best interest of your pet.  Once a decision has been made and if required, a vet and a nurse can come to your home to put your pet to sleep or you may prefer to visit the surgery. We will always treat your animals with the respect and consideration they deserve whilst ensuring a calm and stress free environment.

It can sometimes help to talk to someone about your feelings of loss and you may like to contact the Pet Bereavement Support Service co-run by the Blue Cross and the Society for Companion Animal Studies on 0800 0966 606.
