We are very proud of the fact that our out of hours emergency service is operated by our own veterinary nurses. So, if you need to call us, not only will your call be taken by a trained veterinary professional, it may be the same person who has been looking after your animal during the day. If she is not able to provide telephone advice to address your concern, the call will then be passed on to the Duty Veterinary Surgeon who will ring you back as soon as they are able.
We always have on call a Primary Duty Veterinary Surgeon and a Duty Veterinary Nurse who cares for any hospitalised animals, monitors General Anaesthetics and assists with operations and other treatments. We also have a second Duty Veterinary Surgeon who is on standby if the primary Duty Vet is very busy or requires assistance with a major procedure.
We normally examine small animal pets at our main surgery in Leominster where they can be treated and, if necessary, hospitalised at any time of the day. The Duty vet will usually visit Farm and Equine Patients and, if absolutely necessary, will make small animal house visits. An additional charge is made for all out of hours consultations and visits after 5.30 pm.
